WOODS, Ga. — A 24-year-old man from Waleska has received a 50-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to several charges stemming from a brutal assault on his girlfriend in October 2022. Logan Ben Jordan was convicted of offenses that included aggravated battery, false imprisonment, and multiple counts of assault, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s office.
The incident occurred on Oct. 21, 2022, when Jordan subjected his girlfriend to a vicious attack that left her with lasting emotional scars. Prosecutors described the assault as prolonged and distressing, highlighting the substantial physical and psychological impact on the victim. “This was a sustained, violent attack,” Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe stated. “The defendant not only inflicted physical harm but also instilled deep terror in the victim.”
During a plea hearing, the victim delivered an emotional statement, revealing the profound psychological damage she has endured, including post-traumatic stress disorder characterized by painful flashbacks. She recounted terrifying moments from the attack, such as being threatened with a knife and experiencing strangulation.
While the prosecution urged for a significant prison term given the severity of the crimes, Jordan’s defense team argued for probation, noting he had no new violations since his arrest. However, Superior Court Judge Jennifer L. Davis ultimately opted for a prison sentence, emphasizing the need for accountability and safety. The judge included stringent conditions, mandating that Jordan have no contact with the victim and undergo counseling upon release.
The case was investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, which played a crucial role in bringing the details of the attack to light. The handling of the case reflects ongoing efforts in the community to address domestic violence and provide justice for the victims.
As awareness of domestic violence continues to grow, the legal repercussions for such acts remain significant. Advocates stress the importance of support systems for victims and highlight the need for consistent legal action against perpetrators. The outcome of this case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of domestic abuse and the critical importance of survivor protection.
