London, England – The family of a woman found stabbed to death in a £3 million home near Hyde Park is grieving as police intensify the hunt for her killer. Kamonnan Thiamphanit, also known as Angela to her friends, was discovered by authorities in a Grade II listed property in Bayswater at around 8:30 am on Monday.
Thiamphanit, 27 years old, held dual Chinese and Hong Kong nationality. Concerns about her welfare were raised by friends, as she was found around the same time a neighbor reported hearing two “high-pitched screams.” A post-mortem examination revealed that she died from sharp force trauma. As of now, no arrests have been made, and a murder investigation has been launched.
The Metropolitan Police has initiated an investigation into their initial interaction with a friend who had called them twice on Sunday, reporting that Thiamphanit had not been in touch for a while. Despite these calls, Thiamphanit was initially classified as a “medium risk” missing person before her body was discovered.
Reports indicate that the three-story, five-bedroom terraced home where Thiamphanit was found has a video entry system at the front door, suggesting that she may have let her attacker inside. The residence used to be rented out by the Ethiopian embassy, until they vacated the property four years ago. There is speculation among residents that the house has since been converted into an Airbnb holiday let.
An elderly neighbor recalled hearing the high-pitched screams on Sunday evening, describing them as very unusual and causing a sense of concern. The neighbor expressed shock at the tragic event, noting that such incidents were unprecedented in the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Adam Clifton, in charge of the murder investigation, promised to ensure that justice is served for Thiamphanit. He urged anyone with information to come forward, no matter how insignificant they think it may be. The recent spate of homicides in London involving women is a cause for concern, with investigations ongoing in multiple cases across the city.
