Authorities were searching for Mysiah Dymond Clark after a woman was killed while his separate 2025 homicide case remained pending.
FORNEY, Texas — A 19-year-old man wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman inside her Forney home was already facing a murder charge in Dallas and had been accused of violating electronic-monitoring rules while free on bond, authorities said.
Forney police identified Mysiah Dymond Clark as one of two suspects in the Sunday killing of 22-year-old Erma Elansia Qualls. Qualls was found dead inside a home in the 300 block of Eagle Ridge after a shooting police described as targeted. The other suspect, 18-year-old Jakub East-Walker, was taken into custody Monday and charged with murder.
Clark remained at large Tuesday as Forney police worked with the U.S. Marshals Service and other agencies to locate him. Police said he has ties to Dallas and Mesquite. Investigators were using residential surveillance video and license plate-reading cameras to determine where the suspects went after leaving the neighborhood.
The search has placed new attention on Clark’s pending Dallas County case. Dallas police said Clark was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force on July 14, 2025, in connection with the death of a 15-year-old boy. The boy was fatally shot April 19, 2025, near a gas station in the 3900 block of East Overton Road.
Clark was charged with murder in that case and booked into the Dallas County jail. Local court records reviewed by NBC 5 showed that he was later released on a $100,000 bond and required to wear an ankle monitor. A criminal charge is an accusation, and Clark has not been convicted in the Dallas case.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office reported Clark in June for allegedly violating the electronic-monitoring program by making unauthorized stops in Mesquite, according to NBC 5. Authorities issued an active warrant for his arrest in early July, weeks before the Forney shooting.
Officials have not explained why Clark remained free after the reported violation or disclosed the exact date the warrant was signed. Available reports also did not establish whether law enforcement officers had attempted to arrest him before Sunday. Court officials had not publicly announced whether the new allegations would lead to changes in the earlier case.
Forney Police Chief Carrie White said Clark and East-Walker knew Qualls and other people who were inside the Eagle Ridge home. A child was present during the shooting, police said. Authorities have not released the child’s identity, age or relationship to Qualls and have not said whether the child was physically injured.
Police believe the two suspects initially fled on foot before leaving the area in a vehicle. Investigators have not said whether someone knowingly helped them escape. No information has been released about a possible weapon, the number of shots fired or which suspect is accused of firing at Qualls.
White said the shooting appeared to be an isolated event rather than a random attack on the neighborhood. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive or described the events that led to the gunfire. The investigation was continuing, and police said additional information would be released when doing so would not interfere with the case.
The killing was Forney’s first reported homicide of 2026, according to city officials. It came as the Kaufman County community continues adding residents, homes and businesses. White said the city has increased the size of its police force but still has vacancies as it responds to the demands created by rapid growth.
East-Walker remained jailed Tuesday, and authorities had not released information about his bond or next court hearing. Clark continued to be sought on the Forney allegations and the earlier Dallas warrant. Both men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
