Dayton, Ohio – Authorities have identified the woman who tragically lost her life in a shooting incident in Dayton, Ohio. The victim, Montanae Davis, 26, was confirmed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office on Thursday.
Dayton Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of Torrington Place in the early hours of the morning. Prior to the shooting, a distressing 911 call was made by a woman believed to be the victim, reporting that her ex-boyfriend was making threatening calls and she feared for her safety and that of her two children.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found Davis, who was then rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Significant evidence was collected and is currently under analysis by the forensic service unit as they work to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
A suspect, identified as Jamartay Brown, 24, was arrested on suspicion of murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary. Investigators are now working to determine any potential connections between Brown and the shooting.
Police have refrained from disclosing whether the victim’s children were present during the shooting or if there was any return of fire from within the home.
