NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania – A woman from Plymouth Meeting has been arrested for her involvement in the robbery and fatal shooting of her boyfriend in January. The 29-year-old Katherine Emel faces charges of second-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy for the killing of William Wallace Carter in Norristown. Carter, a 35-year-old father, was ambushed by three men while walking near West Wood and Powell streets at around 8 p.m. Surveillance footage shows the suspects exiting a vehicle, robbing and shooting Carter, and fleeing the scene.
Investigations revealed that Damon Brantley Jr., Daquan Allen, Jerry Butler, and another person were involved in the armed robbery and fatal shooting. Brantley was identified as the shooter. It was also discovered that the vehicle Carter was driving belonged to his girlfriend, Emel, who had placed a GPS tracking device in the trunk. Cellphone records indicated that Emel had communicated with Allen multiple times before the robbery, informing him that Carter had recently won $3,000 by gambling and providing his location to the suspects. Surveillance video later captured Emel and Allen meeting in Philadelphia, where Allen allegedly gave her $700.
Emel surrendered herself to the police and is currently being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail available for second-degree murder. The arrest was announced by Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Norristown police. The case highlights the tragic consequences of betrayal and greed, as well as the extensive investigative work that led to Emel’s arrest.
