Chicago, Illinois – A woman accused of planning the murder of her boyfriend was held without bond in a Cook County courtroom. Prosecutors claim that text messages exchanged with another lover reveal the scheme behind the victim’s tragic death.
Allegedly, 33-year-old Agnieszka Rydzewski orchestrated and pushed for the shooting death of Arturo Cantu Jr. as he exited his Bridgeview home. Officials assert that Rydzewski convinced her coworker, 20-year-old Anthony Calderon, to carry out the killing so they could pursue their relationship. Text messages between them prior to the incident were cited as evidence by prosecutors.
In one message from May 9, Rydzewski allegedly mentioned, “we will be together once all is clear.” The communication between Rydzewski and Calderon dated back to at least April. Calderon, who faces a charge of first-degree murder, was also denied bond.
The victim’s mother, Diana Pacheco, expressed her devastation following her son’s death. She described Cantu as a loving and hardworking individual who brought joy to their lives. Pacheco revealed her shock at the news and disbelief at the alleged motive behind the crime. Canton and Rydzewski had been in a relationship for more than six years prior to the tragic event.
