Clearwater, FL – A violent weekend in Clearwater left two dead and two wounded in three separate shootings, causing residents and authorities to express deep concern over the surge in gun violence. The series of unfortunate events began early Saturday around 2 a.m. at the Washington Square apartments, located near St. Petersburg College’s Clearwater Campus. Officials reported that an altercation involving a 19-year-old and another individual escalated, resulting in gunfire. A 43-year-old woman and her 51-year-old partner were both struck by bullets. The older victim succumbed to his injuries after both were rushed to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. The identities of those involved have not yet been disclosed by the police.
Later that same night, at approximately 11 p.m., another shooting occurred in the 900 block of Vine Avenue. A 52-year-old man suffered critical injuries and was initially taken to Morton Plant Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was subsequently transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Law enforcement officials believe this second shooting may have been drug-related and noted the victim likely knew the assailant.
The violence continued into the early hours of Sunday when police discovered the body of 38-year-old Everton Dove near an access road off U.S. 19 North. Dove, whose last known residence was a hotel on Ulmerton Road, had been fatally shot. Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with his death.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in any of the weekend’s shootings. Clearwater Police are urging anyone with information to come forward in hopes of making arrests and potentially preventing further violence. Detective units are piecing together the events and seeking leads that could link the crimes to broader criminal activities in the area.
