Weekend of Violence: Oklahoma City Sees Four Homicides in Two Days, Police Seek Public Assistance

Oklahoma City – A violent weekend has left the police department grappling with two homicide investigations following a spate of shootings that resulted in four deaths. Authorities are actively seeking the public’s assistance as they work to piece together the details surrounding these tragic events.

The first incident occurred on Friday evening, when law enforcement responded to reports of a double shooting in the vicinity of northwest 10th Street and Virginia Avenue. At the scene, investigators discovered the bodies of 63-year-old Claude Bagby and 43-year-old Stanley Reid. According to Oklahoma City Police Department’s Msgt. Gary Knight, the circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear. “Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and seeking any surveillance footage that might provide insights into the events,” Knight stated.

Later that night, tragedy struck at a southwest Oklahoma City apartment complex, where a party had turned violent. Police were called to the scene shortly before midnight, where they found 42-year-old Brentley Mueller suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The individual responsible for the shooting fled before authorities arrived, and the search for them is ongoing.

The series of shootings continued less than 24 hours later, with police responding to yet another call on Sunday evening. They discovered the body of 77-year-old Samuel Johnson inside his home near Exchange Avenue and Indiana Avenue. It has been reported that Johnson and his wife were present during the incident, but authorities have not confirmed whether his death was the result of an accident. Knight noted that investigators have spoken with all involved parties as they attempt to clarify the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The recent violence has brought the number of homicides in Oklahoma City to ten for the year, prompting community concern. Police are urging anyone with information related to the ongoing investigations to step forward and contact the Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200. The department hopes that with community cooperation, they can bring the responsible individuals to justice.
