Ulundi, South Africa – The recent violent attack at the 110th Anniversary of King Dinuzulu ka Cetshwayo in KwaCeza has sparked outrage from His Majesty King Misuzulu Kazwelithin of the Zulu Nation. This incident, which took place in the Zululand District Municipality, involved a mob dressed in traditional attire who targeted innocent civilians, including children and women, during the event.
Provincial Government spokesperson Bongi Gwala reported that a total of sixteen people were injured in the attack. Among them, eleven were treated at KwaCeza Hospital and discharged, while a 37-year-old woman sustained severe head injuries and was transferred to Ngwelezane Hospital for specialized care. Additional victims received treatment at Dumbe Hospital and Itshelejuba Hospital.
In response to the violence, King Kazwelithini, Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, and President Cyril Ramaphosa have all condemned the incident. Dube-Ncube described the attack as abhorrent and barbaric, emphasizing the nation’s dedication to eliminating political intolerance and violence. She urged law enforcement to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators, highlighting the detrimental impact of such actions on the constitutional democracy that South Africa has worked hard to establish.
