A man suffered severe injuries following an altercation at the iconic Parthenon, prompting police to respond to a call shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday night.
According to eyewitness accounts, the confrontation began when the suspect allegedly approached the victim asking to play music. When the victim declined, he was threatened. The attacker then physically assaulted him, slamming him against the ground and a metal post, which rendered the victim unconscious and bleeding. Authorities have identified the suspect as Justin Cunningham, who is now facing charges of aggravated assault. Reports indicate that Cunningham was intoxicated at the time of the incident and issued threats against the arresting officers while being transported to jail.
The unsettling nature of the attack has left regular park-goers shaken. Jeriah Summeour, who walks in the park nearly every morning, expressed her concerns about personal safety. “I feel a bit on edge now. It’s a reminder to be more vigilant and aware of my surroundings,” she said.
