Hilo, Hawaii – Lynn Ebisuzaki, a 26-year-old Sunday school teacher, met a tragic end on a Friday night in 1987 when she was found bound and gagged with a fatal stab wound in a vacant lot near her boyfriend’s home. The case remains unsolved to this day.
Ebisuzaki was described as a kind and caring person by those who knew her, with no apparent enemies or reasons for someone to harm her. Despite her peaceful nature, her life was cut short in a brutal manner that shocked the community.
The police released composite sketches of a possible suspect shortly after the incident, but the case went cold over the years. Recently, a new composite sketch of a man allegedly seen arguing with Ebisuzaki before her death was released in hopes of generating new leads from the public.
Detective Derek Morimoto, who has been working on the case since 2017, continues to investigate any leads that may come in, including the new sketch. Despite the passage of time, the police are hopeful that someone may recognize the individual in the sketch and provide vital information to move the case forward.
Ebisuzaki’s boyfriend at the time was questioned, but no concrete evidence linking him to the crime was found. Sadly, both Ebisuzaki’s parents have since passed away, leaving behind a legacy of community involvement and leadership.
The case has undergone extensive forensic testing over the years, but as of now, no definitive results have been obtained. With advancements in DNA technology since 1987, there is a possibility that new leads could emerge from retesting evidence in the case.
Ebisuzaki’s family and community have not forgotten her, with her memory still strong among those who knew her. The investigation into her murder continues in the hopes of bringing closure to her loved ones and justice for the senseless crime that took her life.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to come forward and contact Detective Derek Morimoto, as the police remain committed to solving the mystery of Lynn Ebisuzaki’s tragic death.
