Montgomery, AL — Two 16-year-old boys were arrested for the shooting death of a 21-year-old man at a local gas station in Montgomery last Thursday, officials reported. The teenagers have been charged with capital murder but have not been named due to their minor status.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning at around 12:45 a.m. at a gas station located in the 1000 block of West South Boulevard. The victim, identified as Hector Bamaca Yoc, was found deceased in his car from gunshot wounds.
Montgomery Police Sgt. Tina McGriff stated that the motive behind the shooting appeared to be robbery. Local authorities were able to apprehend the suspects following a tip-off after releasing photos and seeking information from the public.
On the day following the shooting, Crime Stoppers disseminated surveillance images of the suspects, which substantially aided in their capture. Subsequently, the teens were detained by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and are now being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
