Lake Worth Beach, Fla. — Authorities in Palm Beach County have apprehended two individuals linked to a fatal shooting at a local bar early Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of two men and injuries to two others. The incident has shaken the small Florida community, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect identified as Morey S. Pinard III, 23, is facing charges including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder, all involving a firearm. His accomplice, Michael Vititoe, 19, has been charged with simple battery and being an accessory after the fact in a homicide. These charges imply Vititoe’s potential involvement in a prior physical altercation and possibly aiding Pinard in concealing evidence or escaping police capture, although specifics are still under investigation.
Both Pinard and Vititoe are currently detained at the Palm Beach County Jail as the case progresses.
The tragedy unfolded at The Rock Irish Pub on Lake Avenue around 1 a.m. on Tuesday. According to deputies, Christopher Allen, 33, and Stephen Stratis, 24, were found deceased at the scene. Two other men sustained gunshot wounds; one remains in critical condition while the other is stable, though their identities have yet to be disclosed.
Sources indicate the violence erupted following a continuation of a Christmas party initially held at Lilo’s Streetfood and Bar. A group of employees from the Old Key Lime House in Lantana moved to The Rock Irish Pub after the party ended around midnight to extend their celebration.
A witness, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the night to local authorities. She explained that the victims were her colleagues who decided to keep the festivities going by playing pool at The Rock Irish Pub after their Christmas gathering at Lilo’s.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents and business owners, raising questions about safety in nightlife areas and the community’s response to such violent acts. Local authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
As the community reels from this tragedy, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office continues to piece together the events that led to this deadly confrontation, hoping to provide closure for the victims’ families and restore peace of mind to the shaken community.
