Tragic Weekend on York Region Roads: Two Fatal Collisions Prompt Call for Witnesses

King, Ontario — A series of tragic traffic collisions over the weekend in York Region have resulted in two fatalities and left several individuals with serious injuries.

The York Regional Police reported that on Friday evening, a collision involving a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Honda Pilot SUV occurred at the intersection of 8th Concession and 15th Sideroad in King. Emergency responders arrived shortly after 7:50 p.m. and transported two occupants from the pickup to a trauma center. The driver of the Honda remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Authorities are reaching out to the community for help, asking anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage to submit their recordings through a designated online portal.

The following day in Vaughan, a tragic event unfolded around 12:56 p.m. when a motorcyclist collided with a transit bus at the intersection of Jane Street and Ahmadiyya Avenue. An off-duty nurse who witnessed the accident rushed to assist the rider, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.

Authorities are urging any witnesses or individuals who captured the event on dashcam to share their footage, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in investigations of this nature.

On Sunday afternoon, another incident occurred in King at 2:16 p.m. at Jane Street and 16th Sideroad, where a collision between a Volkswagen SUV and a BMW SUV resulted in tragedy. A 93-year-old passenger in the Volkswagen suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 95-year-old driver was seriously injured and has since been hospitalized, while the five occupants of the BMW sustained various injuries.

Witnesses to this incident, along with anyone with dashcam or security camera footage, are also encouraged to submit their information to aid the investigation.
