Tuscaloosa, Alabama – A tragic incident unfolded in Tuscaloosa on Friday night, resulting in the death of a juvenile and leaving another young individual with life-altering consequences. The incident involved a shooting that led to a car crashing into a home, with one victim fatally wounded and another in critical condition at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Captain Jack Kennedy, in charge of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, reported that the authorities responded to a scene on Reece Boulevard where a vehicle had collided with a residence. Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile inside the car who had succumbed to gunshot wounds. Another victim was also found shot and is currently fighting for their life at the medical center.

Kennedy mentioned that the collaborative efforts of the VCU, Tuscaloosa Police Department, and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office were crucial in processing the extensive crime scene. It was revealed that the tragic sequence of events stemmed from an attempted robbery, where the driver was shot and subsequently crashed into the residence.

A juvenile suspect has been apprehended and is facing charges of felony murder and first-degree robbery. Kennedy emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be brought forth as more details emerge. Due to the age of both the victim and the suspect, their identities have not been disclosed publicly in compliance with Alabama law.

This unfortunate incident marks the seventh homicide investigated by the VCU in Tuscaloosa County this year, with three occurring within the span of a week.
