Los Angeles — The tragic deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 70, have shocked the entertainment industry and beyond, as new details from their death certificates reveal the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Official documents indicate that both died from “multiple sharp force injuries” inflicted with a knife by another individual, according to information obtained on December 23.
Rob Reiner was reportedly discovered at the couple’s Los Angeles residence on December 14 at approximately 3:45 p.m. One minute later, Michele Reiner was found. The death certificates listed Rob’s marital status as “married,” while Michele’s was recorded as “widowed.” The couple has since been cremated.
In the wake of their deaths, their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bail. Reports state that he had been undergoing treatment for schizophrenia prior to the incident. Nick made a brief court appearance on December 17 but did not enter a plea.
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell described the incident as “a very, very tragic occurrence,” emphasizing the gravity of the charges against Nick.
