LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 17-year-old has died following a violent incident in Valley Station that left three individuals injured and resulted in a murder charge against one of the victims. The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex on Laurent Way.
According to Louisville Metro Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire just after 4 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the deceased teenager, who had sustained a critical head injury. He was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital but did not survive the night.
Another 17-year-old victim arrived at the scene with a gunshot wound to the leg. Fortunately, his injuries were classified as non-life-threatening, and he was also taken to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. An 18-year-old identified as Jeremiah Robinson presented himself at St. Mary’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.
After conducting interviews with witnesses, authorities announced that they are charging Robinson with murder and assault. His mugshot has yet to be released.
Residents of the apartment complex expressed shock and fear in the aftermath of the shooting. One woman, who lives in a unit directly above where the incident took place, reported hearing rapid gunfire followed by the panicked cries of young people. “I didn’t hear any arguments or shouting. Just gunshots, and then chaos,” she recounted.
As neighbors rushed to help, one distressed teenager was overheard lamenting, “They killed my brother.” The woman emphasized that the area is usually quiet, especially during school hours. “It is scary. I’ve never experienced anything like this so close to home,” she said.
