The district’s violence kicked off at approximately 10 a.m. with a deadly shooting on Eastern Avenue, close to the border with Prince George’s County. Shortly thereafter, another man’s life was tragically ended by gunfire in the 4100 block of Southern Avenue in the Fort Davis area, near the same county line.
The police have confirmed the adult status of both victims and have indicated that these shootings seem unrelated and targeted, though the motives are still under investigation. This unfortunately contributes to an alarming count, bringing the year’s homicide toll to 152 in the nation’s capital.

Around 1 a.m., another person suffered critical injuries following an incident on Edgewood Street in northeast D.C., near the Edgewood Commons residential complex. Monday evening also saw its share of turmoil with a fatal assault occurring around 9 p.m. on T Street, directly opposite McKinley Tech High School. This event marked the 153rd homicide in D.C. this year. The same night, police were called to two additional shootings in southeast Washington, details of which are still forthcoming.
