Tragic Shooting in San Angelo: 16-Year-Old Dead, 17-Year-Old Suspect in Custody Following Overnight Incident

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed early Saturday morning in what authorities are calling an isolated incident, prompting the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect.

Officers arrived at the 4400 block of Bermuda Drive around 4:45 a.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Shannon Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police identified the suspect as 17-year-old Derek Carson during a press conference held later that morning. Carson remains in custody, with murder charges anticipated as the investigation unfolds.
