Tragic Night in Aurora: Restaurant Shooting Claims Two Lives as Investigation Unfolds

Aurora, Illinois — Two individuals killed in a shooting at a local restaurant over the weekend have been identified, prompting an ongoing investigation into the tragic incident. Police reported that the shooting occurred on Saturday shortly after 9 p.m. at the Two Brothers Roundhouse.

Authorities discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside the establishment. One woman was promptly taken to Mercy Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. A 33-year-old man remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit. The gunman was found dead at the scene, as confirmed by the Aurora Police Department.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 24-year-old Jazmine Barclay, a resident of Aurora, and 43-year-old Bryan Heineman from Naperville. Preliminary investigations revealed that Heineman and Barclay had been involved in a dating relationship.

Witnesses indicated that Barclay and the injured man were on an upper-level balcony when Heineman entered the restaurant, apparently to confront them. It is believed he may have learned about their whereabouts via social media. After approaching the couple, Heineman opened fire, hitting both before taking his own life.

Patrons inside the venue reported a chaotic scene as the shooting unfolded during a performance by the band Beyond the Blonde. The lead singer, Charity Benevelli, described the shocking transition from a lively atmosphere to one of sheer panic. “It’s surreal how quickly joy can turn into fear,” she said.

Fortunately, no bystanders were injured during the shooting. A firearm was recovered at the scene, supporting the ongoing investigation. This tragic event has left the community shaken as it comes on the heels of previous discussions surrounding gun violence and public safety.

In the aftermath, the Aurora Police Department is urging anyone affected by the incident to reach out to their Crisis Intervention Unit. The unit can be contacted at 630-256-2483 for support.
