WOONSOCKET, R.I. — A tragic incident unfolded on Nov. 3 when a murder-suicide in a local apartment left three people dead, as confirmed by the Woonsocket Police Department.
The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Kimberly Pieranunzi, 45-year-old Donald Roderick Jr., and 24-year-old Sean Rivera. Authorities report that Kimberly lived in an apartment on Rathbun Street with her boyfriend Donald and her 19-year-old daughter, along with her daughter’s boyfriend, Sean.
On the night of the shooting, tensions escalated between Sean and his girlfriend during an argument, prompting alarming behavior from Sean. According to police reports, he allegedly brandished a firearm and made sexual demands. The young woman reportedly fled to seek refuge with her mother.
Tragically, police say Sean pursued her, entering the room where Kimberly was located. He then allegedly shot Kimberly multiple times. The 19-year-old managed to escape the residence and sought help, contacting authorities from a nearby business.
Shortly after, Donald returned home from work and was also shot by Sean, according to police. In the aftermath of the confrontation, Sean turned the weapon on himself. Law enforcement arrived at the scene and discovered a firearm in Sean’s possession, which was later confirmed to have been stolen from Maine.
Woonsocket police emphasized that the incident was confined to the apartment’s residents, stating there was no ongoing threat to the community. This tragic case sheds light on the devastating impact of domestic violence and the urgent need for awareness and intervention in similar situations.
