Elberton, Georgia — A 15-year-old boy is in custody following the fatal shooting of a teenage employee at a McDonald’s restaurant. The incident occurred Tuesday night around 10:20 p.m. when local police received emergency calls reporting gunfire at the fast-food location on Elbert Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 17-year-old employee suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the lobby. The victim was quickly transported to Elbert Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities indicated that the suspect and victim had a prior relationship, with tensions escalating over a mutual acquaintance prior to the shooting.
The suspect turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m., at which point he faced charges including murder. Due to both individuals being minors, their identities will remain confidential as per legal guidelines.
