CHICAGO, IL – Tragedy struck Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood as 15-year-old Michael Jones lost his life from gunshot wounds sustained in an incident two weeks ago. The young boy had been outside in the 800 block of West 52nd Street when he was approached by two individuals who proceeded to open fire around 11:35 a.m. on March 27, according to Chicago police reports.
Jones was struck in the chest and arms by the gunfire, leading to his transport to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, Jones succumbed to his injuries on Thursday evening at 8:44 p.m., as confirmed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy conducted on Saturday determined that the teen’s passing was a result of complications arising from the gunshot wounds, ultimately ruling his death a homicide.
