Wrexham, United Kingdom — A 37-year-old man, identified as Craig Richardson, was found deceased in his residence with severe facial injuries, sparking a murder investigation that has stirred the local community. An inquest into his death disclosed preliminary findings suggesting that his demise was likely due to asphyxiation caused by inhaling blood from his extensive injuries.
The grim discovery was made by police in Acrefair, Wrexham, on February 23, following alerts about Richardson’s welfare. Officers found Richardson’s body in a bed at his home just before 12:30 p.m. GMT. Emergency medical personnel declared him dead at the scene.
Currently, Thomas Iveson, a 30-year-old also from Wrexham, faces murder charges in relation to Richardson’s death. Iveson, who resides in Burton, a Wrexham locality, has entered a plea of not guilty to the accusations. His trial is set to commence on October 20 at the Mold Crown Court.
In addition to Iveson, another Wrexham man, aged 32, was arrested under suspicion of involvement in the murder. He has since been released while investigations continue.
The inquest, presided over by Senior Coroner John Gittins of Ruthin, was adjourned with the announcement that Richardson’s body would be withheld from burial until determinations are made regarding the necessity of a second post-mortem examination.
Following his untimely death, Richardson’s relatives have come forward to express their profound grief and remembrance. They described him as a cherished son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, partner, and friend, noted for his vibrant, fun-loving nature.
This tragic event has left the Acrefair community in shock as they struggle to make sense of the sudden and violent loss of one of their own. Further proceedings in the inquest and developments in the court case are anticipated, as both the family and local residents seek closure and justice for Richardson.
