Las Vegas, Nevada — A shooting incident on the Las Vegas Strip late Sunday night left two YouTube content creators dead, triggering an intense response from law enforcement officials and shock among the community. The tragic event unfolded outside the Bellagio Hotel & Casino shortly before 11 p.m.
Emergency calls flooded in as witnesses described the chaos, highlighting the urgency of the situation. One caller reported, “This is an emergency, we’re at the Bellagio. There’s a shooting out here, somebody’s shooting.” Another mentioned watching the unfolding drama via a live stream on YouTube, stating, “I saw a guy walking behind the camera. He pulled out a gun and started shooting.”
The police identified the shooter as 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz, a local YouTube creator, who fatally shot 44-year-old Rodney Finley and his wife, 34-year-old Tanisha Finley. Both victims were pronounced dead at the crime scene. Shortly after the incident, Ruiz surrendered to authorities in Henderson.
According to a friend of the Finleys, the couple had been involved in a long-standing feud with Ruiz, which had escalated over the past two years. Derek Ware, who knew Rodney as “Finny Da Legend,” indicated that tensions had been simmering for some time in the content creation community.
The shooting was broadcast live on Rodney’s YouTube channel. Eyewitnesses reported seeing Tanisha confront Ruiz before the shots were fired, offering a chilling glimpse into the events leading up to the tragedy. In statements to the police, Ruiz claimed he acted in self-defense, suggesting that Rodney had reached aggressively for his waistband while asserting that Tanisha was holding “a shiny black object,” which he believed to be a firearm.
Ruiz now faces two counts of open murder and is currently in custody without bail. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson has indicated that prosecutors are evaluating the possibility of seeking the death penalty for Ruiz.
