Tragic Double Homicide-Suicide Shakes Dalton: Investigators Connect Deaths of Two Women and a Man

DALTON, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a tragic case involving the deaths of three individuals at two separate locations, which police suspect may be linked. Investigators believe a man fatally shot his wife before traveling to his girlfriend’s home, where he then took her life and his own.

Police were alerted to the situation on the evening of May 23 when coworkers expressed concern for a woman who had not been seen for several days. Officers responded to an apartment on Murray Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. After gaining access with the assistance of the apartment staff, they discovered a woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators quickly launched a homicide inquiry, and local authorities reviewed security footage showing the suspect leaving the apartment early on May 21. As the investigation unfolded, authorities traced his vehicle to an apartment complex located on Shadow Lane.

In the early hours of May 24, police were awaiting a search warrant for a unit in that complex when a man arrived at the property. Identified later as the father of the second victim, he entered the apartment using a key. After discovering the bodies of his daughter and the suspect, he immediately called 911.

First responders secured the scene and found evidence suggesting the man shot his girlfriend before taking his own life. Dalton Police Department officials have stated that no names will be released until family members have been notified.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have indicated that they will provide updates as new details come to light. Community members are reeling from the events, raising concerns about domestic violence and its far-reaching impacts. Local leaders are urging the public to remain vigilant and to seek help if they or someone they know is in a similar situation.
