Tragic Double Homicide Shakes Music Community as American Idol Supervisor and Husband Found Dead in Their Home

Encino, California — A double homicide involving a former music supervisor for “American Idol” and her husband has rattled the community. Authorities discovered the bodies of Robin Kaye and her spouse, musician Thomas DeLuca, four days after their deaths, prompting an extensive investigation.

The couple, both 70 years old, were found on July 14 after police conducted a welfare check at their home. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the tragic events unfolded on July 11, indicating that their remains went undiscovered for nearly a week.

Surveillance footage retrieved from the residence shows a suspect, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, breaching a fence and entering the home through an unlocked sliding door just before the couple returned. A confrontation ensued, leading to the fatal shooting. LAPD Lieutenant Guy Golan indicated that both victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities later retrieved a firearm from Boodarian’s residence, which they believe may be the weapon used in the slayings. However, officials are awaiting forensic confirmation before making definitive claims about its involvement.

Boodarian has a documented history of violent behavior and mental health issues. Earlier this year, he faced charges related to battery and the exhibition of a deadly weapon, but those charges were dismissed when he was found mentally incompetent to stand trial. Previous allegations also include threats against his stepfather and assaults on family members.

Robin Kaye had a significant impact on the music industry, particularly through her role on “American Idol,” which she helped shape since its inception in 2002 until her recent work in 2023. While she often worked behind the scenes, her contributions greatly influenced contestants and the overall musical direction of the show. In addition to her work with “American Idol,” Kaye was involved with “Lip Sync Battle” and several Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

The tragic loss of Kaye and DeLuca has sent shockwaves through the music community and beyond, sparking conversations about violence and mental health struggles that often linger beneath the surface. As investigations continue, the community mourns a couple whose lives significantly impacted both entertainment and the people they touched.
