Tragic Dispute: Queens Cousins Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide Over Family Home Sale

JAMAICA, N.Y. — A tragic incident involving two cousins unfolded late Friday night, culminating in the deaths of both men in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide linked to a dispute over a property sale.

Local police arrived at a residence on 116th Road shortly before midnight after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon entering the home, they discovered the bodies of a 37-year-old man and his 41-year-old cousin, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.

Family members revealed that the two men had a longstanding relationship, growing up together and often spending time as children. Sources identified the younger man as Prince and the elder cousin as Antoine. Emergency responders pronounced Prince dead at the scene, while Antoine later succumbed to his wounds at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

According to relatives, the conflict arose from disagreements concerning the sale of Antoine’s house. A 62-year-old uncle residing in the basement of the home shared that the feud revolved around how the proceeds from the sale would be divided. Antoine had entrusted Prince with power of attorney for the sale, believing that his cousin, familiar with the real estate market, could handle the transaction effectively.

Prince’s wife grew increasingly anxious about her husband’s well-being after he failed to collect their daughter from school. Unable to reach him through phone calls or messages, she utilized a tracking app to locate him and noticed his phone had not moved for over two hours. Concerned for his safety, she drove to the home and called 911, requesting wellness checks on two occasions.

Witnesses reported that police arrived twice but were unable to enter the residence as no one responded. A neighbor recounted the wife’s distress as she explained the situation to officers, indicating her need for immediate assistance.

When her uncle eventually returned home, he allowed her entry to the house. As she turned on the lights, she came upon Prince’s lifeless body positioned near the front door. Shock ensued as she called out for help, prompting her uncle to advise her to leave the house, fearing for their safety.

During their exit, they heard a gunshot. NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit later found Antoine in a bedroom, holding a handgun with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shocking conclusion to this family tragedy has left relatives and the community grappling with the violent turn of events.

Family members are devastated, expressing disbelief that a dispute could escalate to such a tragic outcome. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to this heartbreaking incident.
