THE COLONY, Texas — Authorities from The Colony are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after two individuals were discovered deceased in an apartment, each suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to the local police, emergency responders were summoned to the scene for a welfare check at approximately 1:44 p.m. on December 2 at the Estancia at Morningstar Apartments located on Morning Star Drive. The welfare check was prompted by a concerned employer who had not been able to make contact with an employee for several days.
Upon entry into the apartment, officers found the bodies of a man and a woman. The preliminary findings suggest that the man likely inflicted a fatal gunshot on himself after shooting the woman.
The identities and ages of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The relationship between the individuals and the motive behind the shooting are still under investigation, as detectives strive to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
