Worksop, England — A devastating gas explosion in Worksop over the weekend claimed the life of a 53-year-old man and left a trail of destruction, causing several homes to be demolished and dozens of properties and vehicles to be damaged. The explosion, which occurred just after 7:30 pm on Saturday on John Street, tragically ended the life of Dave Howard, as identified by local residents.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene following reports of the blast, which instantly leveled one house and severely damaged two adjacent ones. This catastrophic event prompted a major incident declaration, leading to an extensive emergency operation.
By Sunday evening, police reported that they had accounted for all individuals who might have been in the vicinity during the explosion. One person was hospitalized with minor injuries but has since been released.
The aftermath of the explosion saw approximately 50 people evacuated from 35 households. Bassetlaw District Council swiftly organized emergency accommodations, with some residents receiving shelter at Crown Place Community Centre overnight, while others were placed in hotels and temporary housing.
