Stockton, California – A father is grappling with the profound loss of his 14-year-old son, who was fatally shot during a child’s birthday celebration held in a local banquet hall. The tragedy unfolded on Saturday night, leaving a total of four people dead, including three minors, and injuring 11 others.
Patrick Peterson was attending the joyous occasion with family when a sudden burst of gunfire shattered the festivities. “It all happened so fast; one moment we were celebrating, and the next, there were bullets flying,” Peterson recalled. In the chaos, he turned to see his son, Amari, lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Heartbroken, Peterson recounted the horrifying moment when he found Amari. “He had one bullet wound right above the heart. He was trying to crawl up,” he said, visibly shaken. Rushing to help, Peterson jumped over a counter to reach his son, performing CPR as the scene turned frantic and chaotic around him. His young daughter was also caught in the gunfire, sustaining minor injuries.
