Sophia Loren Soares Camilo was the innocent victim of gun violence, leaving her family and community in shock and mourning.
The attack occurred around 5:30 p.m. as the two were driving toward a cousin’s birthday party. According to reports, an armed assailant confronted the vehicle, demanding that Sophia’s father, Diogo, stop. In a desperate act, Diogo activated the hazard lights of the car and identified himself, only to face a barrage of gunfire seconds later. The attacker fired at least eight bullets, tragically striking Sophia multiple times in the chest and leg.
Diogo, though injured, managed to drive his daughter to the hospital immediately following the assault. Despite his efforts, Sophia succumbed to her injuries.
