Earlier in the week, a separate horrifying incident occurred when a 62-year-old man drove his SUV into a crowd in the southern city of Zhuhai, killing 35 people and injuring over 40. Authorities found the driver in the vehicle with self-inflicted knife wounds to his neck.
The assailant in the Yixing attack, whose identity has not been disclosed, apparently targeted his former school to “express his anger,” according to a police statement. Following his arrest, he confessed to the attacks.
