Reno, Nevada — A shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort on Monday morning left three people dead and three others injured, triggering swift law enforcement intervention that officials believe prevented further tragedy. Officers arrived within minutes and engaged with the suspect in a gunfire exchange, ultimately disabling him.
The incident unfolded around 7:25 a.m. as the suspect moved through the resort’s parking lot towards the valet area, where he reportedly opened fire on a gathering of individuals, wounding five. According to Chief Chris Crawforth of the Sparks Police Department, two of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, with the third pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Two of the injured, including the suspect, remain in critical condition, while another person was treated and later released. Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance reported that one officer suffered a minor injury, likely caused by glass fragments during the confrontation.
