Athens, Georgia – Three teenagers are currently facing charges after a tragic incident where a child was shot and killed in Athens on Friday night. The Athens-Clarke County police were called to the Hallmark Mobile Home Park on Spring Valley Road just after 5:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. At the scene, two children were found shot, with one child unfortunately succumbing to their injuries. An adult was also injured during the incident but is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.
The young victim was identified as 3-year-old Kyron Zarco, known affectionately as “Baby Dro” according to a GoFundMe campaign established for the family. The suspects involved in this heinous crime include 17-year-old Julian Cubillos, who has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Cubillos is currently detained at the Clarke County Jail.
Arrest warrants have been issued for 16-year-old Jayden Brown and 18-year-old Dakious Echols in connection to the shooting. When apprehended, they will also face charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. The police are dedicated to bringing all those responsible for this senseless act of violence to justice.
