Tennessee Man Charged With Double Murder After Allegedly Killing Pregnant Girlfriend

Spring Hill, Tenn. — A 29-year-old Indiana man has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of his pregnant girlfriend, whose life was claimed in a tragic domestic incident. Authorities in Maury County took Vidol Wegner into custody on Monday, following a distressing discovery at a local residence.

Early Monday morning, Spring Hill Police responded to a call from Wegner himself, leading them to a home where they found a 30-year-old woman deceased with apparent fatal injuries. The woman, later identified as Ariel Nevills, was pregnant at the time, police confirmed. Reports suggest that Nevills and Wegner were romantically involved.

According to law enforcement documents, Wegner confessed during interrogation to using severe physical force against Nevills. The arrest affidavit reveals he detailed his actions, admitting to strangling her using both his hands and forearm in two fatal methods intended to end both her life and that of their unborn child.

In a stark interview from Maury County Jail, Wegner told reporters that Nevills had “chosen this” outcome, implying her actions led to her death. He expressed conflicted feelings about their relationship and the pregnancy, indicating a disagreement about how to handle the situation once Nevills decided to keep the baby after initially agreeing otherwise.

Nevills, originally from Valparaiso, Indiana, had a notable career and personal background. She served in the Illinois Army Reserves and worked as a union millwright, dealing with the installation and maintenance of heavy machinery. According to her obituary, she leaves behind a grieving family including her parents, six siblings, and a host of relatives and friends who remember her as a bright presence in their lives.

Wegner faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony murder. He is scheduled for his next court appearance on February 3.
