Teen’s murder devastates city, by couple she met online

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – In an unfortunate turn of events, a missing person’s case in St. Petersburg has been revealed as a gruesome kidnapping and murder. Police have been gathering evidence at a duplex on 27th Avenue North, the suspected crime scene where a 16-year-old girl met a tragic fate.

The suspect, Steven Gres, 35, has been charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder. The investigation revealed that Gres connected with the victim, Miranda Corsete, through a social media application on February 14, and she was reported missing on February 24.

Tensions arose at Gres’s residence over missing jewelry, leading to the vicious assault on Corsete. She was reportedly subjected to beatings and torture over several days as Gres sought the jewelry.

Following the brutal attack, Gres, along with his partner Michelle Brandis, allegedly transported Corsete’s body to a property in Largo, where it was dismembered and discarded in a Ruskin dumpster. Authorities suspect her remains are now in a landfill.

Efforts are ongoing to recover Corsete’s body, with police focusing on the landfill site. The shocking details of the crime have left the local community in disbelief.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the potential risks involved in online interactions, particularly for young people connecting with strangers through social media platforms.

The police have urged anyone with information to come forward, as they continue their tireless search for Corsete’s remains. The investigation remains active, with law enforcement determined to provide closure for her grieving family.

The community is left to mourn the tragic loss of Miranda Corsete, as the pursuit of justice continues in this chilling case.
