Teen suspect in St. Johnsbury shooting death faces second-degree murder charges

BURLINGTON, Vt. – A tragic incident unfolded in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, where a 15-year-old suspect is now facing second-degree murder charges in connection to the shooting death of 38-year-old Christina Chatlos. Originally from Williamstown and Barre, Chatlos was discovered lifeless in a parked car on Portland Street on Jan. 23.

Authorities revealed that the fatal shooting occurred following a drug deal that took a horrific turn, leading to Chatlos losing her life at the hands of the adolescent suspect, identified as Mohamad Said from Springfield, Massachusetts. Said has been apprehended and charged with second-degree murder in Massachusetts based on a Vermont arrest warrant.

The legal proceedings are set to commence with Said’s arraignment scheduled for Monday morning, to eventually continue at the Vermont Superior Court in St. Johnsbury through a video call in the afternoon. If found guilty, Said could be sentenced to a minimum of 20 years to life imprisonment.
