Teen severely injured by flying tire en route to concert

TRACY, CA – Danielle Shackleford and her daughter Emma were enjoying a drive, music filling their car, when an unexpected accident on the 580 near Tracy abruptly changed everything. A tire rim smashed into their vehicle, causing chaos and fear.

Danielle heard a loud crash and turned to see Emma trapped under the rim. Despite the shock, she managed to stop the car and call for emergency assistance.

Firefighters from Alameda and San Joaquin counties responded swiftly, transporting Emma to hospitals where she spent nine days fighting severe injuries, including a fractured skull and internal damage.

Danielle, refusing to leave Emma’s side, remained vigilant throughout the ordeal, driven by a mother’s love and concern.

Emma is now home in Fresno, recovering and thankful for the support she received. Her resilience is evident as she jokes about having a “survival party” to celebrate overcoming the accident.

Looking forward, Emma dreams of attending a concert with Danielle, the person who stood by her throughout the terrifying experience.
