Teen Injured in Fight, Prompting School Lockdown

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, OH – A teenager was hospitalized following a shooting that erupted during a confrontation among a large group of teens in Franklin Township. The incident unfolded in a residential neighborhood near Lindbergh Park, which is adjacent to Lindbergh Elementary and Breeze High School.

The altercation involved 20 to 30 teenagers and escalated into gunfire, prompting some of the teens to flee the scene. The proximity of the shooting to the schools led to a lockdown as a precautionary measure while police conducted their investigation.

Authorities reported that a 16-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. He was swiftly transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. Sergeant David Pollock of the Franklin Township Police Department expressed concern over the incident’s location, emphasizing the potential risk to students and residents.

“This could have been far more tragic, especially being so close to schools and in a populated neighborhood,” Pollock noted, highlighting the dangers posed by stray bullets in such areas.

The police have been actively searching Lindbergh Park and the surrounding neighborhood for evidence and potential suspects. While no arrests have been made yet, authorities are questioning individuals who were present during the altercation.

Residents in the area have expressed their alarm over the incident, voicing concerns about the safety of their community. Many are calling for increased security measures and more police presence to prevent future occurrences.

The investigation is ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward. They are determined to piece together the events leading up to the shooting and identify those responsible.

As the community grapples with the aftermath, local officials are working closely with school administrators to ensure the safety of students and staff. Counseling services are being offered to those affected by the incident.
