Analysis of CCTV footage revealed that this vehicle, a silver or grey Nissan X-Trail, was the same one involved in the earlier shooting. Superintendent Simon Glasser of the Cumberland Police Area Command, in a press briefing, emphasized the gravity of the situation. “We have an innocent family that was caught in the crossfire of a highly reckless and violent attack,” Glasser stated. He reassured that the family targeted was not connected to any criminal activities and expressed a strong belief about the identity of the intended target.
Mobile phone footage captured from the scene where the Nissan X-Trail was torched showed the extent of the fire on Chiswick Road in South Granville, pointing to a well-orchestrated escape plan. According to Superintendent Glasser, the assailants likely fled on foot through bushland leading toward Auburn, although they remain at large.
