AUSTIN, Texas – Raul Meza, the suspected serial killer in Austin, is possibly connected to a cold case homicide, according to court documents. Meza, 63, admitted last year to the murders of two people in 2019 and 2023, both cases involving strangulation. The circumstances of these recent murders are said to bear significant similarities to an unsolved homicide in Austin from 2018, details of which were not disclosed in the search warrant.
Investigators believe Meza may also be linked to the disappearance of an unidentified woman who was last seen with him in a secluded field in Pflugerville in March 2022. While cadaver dogs detected the scent of human remains in the area, no body was found. Moreover, Meza has confessed to two additional killings in San Antonio after being released from prison in 2016.
Furthermore, court documents revealed Meza’s previous conviction for the rape and murder of 8-year-old Kendra Paige in 1982. After serving over 10 years of his 30-year sentence, he was released on parole in 1993. At the time of the girl’s murder, Meza was on parole for armed robbery and causing permanent injuries to a man.
The continued investigation into Meza’s possible connection to these additional crimes raises concerns about his history and the potential for identifying further victims. The development of this case is ongoing as law enforcement agencies work to gather evidence and connect the dots between Meza and other unsolved cases.
