FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man stabbed with a screwdriver during a Sunday fight on Davie Boulevard was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization, Fort Lauderdale police said.
The fight occurred at about 12:20 p.m. in the 3900 block of Davie Boulevard. Police said the confrontation involved two men who were homeless, but authorities did not identify either person.
According to investigators, one man used a screwdriver to stab the other before leaving the scene on foot. Police did not provide a detailed description of the wound or say how the dispute began.
Rescue crews examined and treated the injured man where the fight occurred. Authorities said his condition did not require an ambulance trip to a hospital.
Responding officers were given a description of the other man and began searching the surrounding area. Police said officers located him a short distance from the scene and detained him.
The department did not say whether the detained man was questioned and released, held for further investigation or formally arrested. No criminal charges had been announced in the information released Sunday.
Police also did not disclose whether investigators recovered the screwdriver or obtained video or witness accounts related to the confrontation. Authorities reported no additional injuries.
Investigators were working to determine what happened before the fight and whether the evidence supported criminal charges. Police had not announced any additional developments as of Monday.
