Stray Bullet Kills Man in Kalamazoo Northside Shooting Incident

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A tragic incident unfolded on April 10, 2024, in Kalamazoo’s northside, resulting in the death of Mark Jackson, 53, from New Baltimore, Michigan. Jackson lost his life when a stray bullet penetrated the front door of the apartment he was residing in.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety reported that officers responded to reports of shots fired on Interfaith Boulevard near Woodward Avenue late that night. They arrived at the scene to find a chaotic situation, including a crashed car with multiple bullet holes, shell casings, and a distressed crowd of onlookers.

Sadly, Jackson was discovered unresponsive and bleeding in a nearby apartment. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital. It was revealed that the shooting incident involved a suspect who fired at occupants of a nearby vehicle, leading to the fatal outcome.

None of the passengers in the car sustained injuries during the shooting. However, one of the bullets struck Jackson through the apartment door, causing his untimely death.
