Sikkim Shaken by Unusual Deaths and Burglary Wave; Police Ramp Up Investigations Amid Growing Concerns

In a separate incident in Rangpo, the community was shaken by the death of 70-year-old Uttam Kumar Rawat, found deceased near a public restroom. Initial investigations by police suggest there was no foul play involved, noting no signs of visible injuries and acknowledging Rawat’s long struggle with chronic alcoholism. Authorities are retaining Rawat’s body for further analysis to confirm the cause of death.

Additionally, police in Gangtok documented another troubling event on November 3, when 44-year-old Passang Doma Tamang was found dead, an apparent suicide, in her rented accommodation. This case has added an additional layer of complexity to the sudden spate of deaths troubling the area.

Moreover, the death of 35-year-old Bimla Devi Shanker has also perplexed local authorities. Shanker was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital after being discovered unconscious in a water container outside her home. Considering her medical history of epilepsy and alcoholism, police are continuing to investigate, with an autopsy pending to ascertain the definitive cause of death.
