Salina, Kan. — A domestic disturbance led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted a woman at their shared residence on Wednesday afternoon, according to local police. The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. in the 3200 block of Whitetail Way, when police received a call reporting a physical altercation.
Authorities say the male suspect, identified as Brandon Gamache, was reportedly upset after a 54-year-old woman refused his request to use her vehicle. In a fit of anger, Gamache allegedly attacked the victim as she tried to prevent him from taking her keys. Witnesses reported that he not only pinned her to a chair but also damaged her clothing in the struggle, specifically tearing a pocket from her pants.
The situation escalated when Gamache forcibly removed the victim’s glasses from her face, causing further distress. When she attempted to call for help, Gamache reportedly retaliated by throwing her phone away, but the woman managed to escape his grasp long enough to retrieve the device and dial 911.
Upon arrival, police found Gamache still at the residence and attempted to take him into custody. However, the suspect allegedly resisted arrest, trying to strike officers as they intervened. After a brief struggle, police successfully apprehended him and transported him to the Saline County Jail.
Gamache faces multiple charges, including aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery, domestic battery, theft, and several counts related to assault on law enforcement officers. Additionally, he was found to have an outstanding municipal warrant from the city of Salina.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene to assess the victim, who reported visible bruising on her arms as a result of the confrontation. Local police are continuing their investigation into the incident, emphasizing the community’s need for safety and vigilance in domestic situations.
