Salina, Kansas — Authorities are investigating a violent domestic incident that reportedly occurred in a residential neighborhood on June 11. A 54-year-old woman alleged that a 31-year-old man, identified as Brandon Gamache, assaulted her at her home in the 3200 block of Whitetail Way.
According to law enforcement officials, the altercation began around 4 p.m. when Gamache expressed a desire to use the victim’s vehicle. After she declined his request, he reacted with aggression. Witnesses noted that he physically attacked her and attempted to seize the keys to the vehicle, pinning her to a chair in the process. During this struggle, he reportedly tore the pocket of her pants while trying to gain access to the keys.
The situation escalated when Gamache also ripped the victim’s glasses from her face, damaging them in the process. As she attempted to call for help, Gamache allegedly seized her phone and hurled it away. Despite being pinned down initially, the woman managed to free herself and retrieve her phone as she exited the residence.
When she contacted authorities, responding officers found Gamache still in the home. Upon trying to take him into custody, he reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to strike the officers. Law enforcement was ultimately able to apprehend him, leading to his detention in Saline County Jail.
Gamache faces multiple charges, including aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery, domestic battery, theft, and criminal damage to property. Additional charges include assaulting a law enforcement officer and interference with a police operation. Authorities noted that he also had an outstanding warrant from the Salina Municipal Court.
The victim sustained visible bruising during the incident and received evaluation from emergency medical services. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, emphasizing the seriousness of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help in such situations. Local officials are reminding community members of available resources and support services for those experiencing domestic abuse.
