Road Rage Turns Deadly: Suspect Arrested in Glendale Shooting of Innocent Bystander

PHOENIX – A suspect is in custody following a tragic road rage incident in Glendale that resulted in the death of a bystander over the weekend. Authorities allege that 33-year-old Jesus Preciado Dousten fired a bullet that struck 27-year-old Yarely Ashley Hermosillo as tensions flared between drivers.

The shooting took place just before midnight Friday at the intersection of 51st Avenue and Camelback Road. Hermosillo was a passenger in an SUV alongside her boyfriend, mother, and 3-year-old son when she was hit in the face by gunfire. The SUV was stationary at a red light, adjacent to the vehicles involved in the altercation.

Emergency responders rushed Hermosillo to a Phoenix hospital, but her injuries proved fatal. The hospital staff alerted police about the shooting, prompting the Glendale Police Department to take over the investigation, as the incident occurred within their jurisdiction.

Detectives were quickly able to identify Dousten as the suspect using surveillance footage, phone location data, and other critical evidence. His whereabouts led law enforcement to an apartment in Glendale, where he was taken into custody Saturday evening. Dousten now faces charges including second-degree murder, aggravated assault, endangerment, and possession of prohibited weapons.

According to police reports, Dousten’s criminal history includes prior convictions for attempted vehicle theft, unlawful flight, and resisting arrest. Investigators are also looking into his possible connection to an unsolved road rage incident in Phoenix earlier this year. In that case, a victim alleged he was assaulted by a driver matching the description of Dousten’s vehicle during a confrontation in June.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the public for more information on Dousten’s whereabouts leading up to the shooting. As communities grapple with growing concerns over road rage incidents, this tragic event underscores the potentially devastating consequences of such confrontations.
