Perth Amboy Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash

Perth Amboy, New Jersey – A man from Perth Amboy has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a 72-year-old man. Hansel Farrier-Romero was convicted of knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in death, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.

The incident took place on August 7, 2022, at the intersection of Convery and Pfeiffer boulevards in Perth Amboy. The victim, Rocco Chirichillo, was struck by a white Dodge Charger while using a walker to cross the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving officers.

Farrier-Romero was arrested the same day and later pleaded guilty on June 16, 2023. His sentencing was announced by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone on January 16.
