Reynoldsburg, Ohio — An officer was found not guilty in the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman in a supermarket parking lot, a case that has drawn significant attention and sparked discussions about police conduct and training. Blendon Township officer Connor Grubb faced serious charges, including murder, in connection with the death of Ta’Kiya Young, 21.
The incident occurred on August 24, 2023, when Grubb and another officer approached Young’s vehicle following reports that she was suspected of shoplifting alcohol from a nearby Kroger store. According to body camera footage, Young partially rolled down her window while the officers demanded she exit the car. Tensions escalated as Grubb brandished his firearm, prompting Young to ask if he intended to shoot her.
